Ha! Just left them a message after reading some of the comments/

Quote:
You people are real winners. I suggest you leave that woman and her family alone. Not so brite bart doesn’t need your help. His fate is cast. His credibility is shot to hell. There is nothing you can say or do to the Sherrod’s that will help him get it back. He is toast.

As for your apology, you didn’t mean it. So no one really cares about you withdrawing it. IOW blow it out of your behind.

My name is SickupandFed. And I approve this message.

Shirley Sherrod to Sue Right-Wing Propagandist Andrew Breitbart
http://blogs.alternet.org/speakeasy/2010/07/29/shirley-sherrod-to-sue-right-wing-propagandist-andrew-breitbart/

Ousted USDA official Shirley Sherrod said in a speech to the National Association of Black Journalists in San Diego this morning that she will sue Andrew Breitbart, the conservative journalist and activist who posted the out-of-context video of her that resulted in her forced resignation.

Speaking of a lawsuit, Sherrod said she “will definitely do it,” arguing that “he had to know that he was targeting me.”

“Now whether he was also trying to target the NAACP, he had to know he was targeting me,” she added.

Wingnuttery Debunk: Shirley Sherrod, Bill Ayers, and the New Black Panthers?

Quote:
When Glenn Beck speaks, a little more truth dies. In usual right-wing echo chamber fashion, they just can't let go of Shirley Sherrod. They're milking her story so dry the cows are screaming.

The latest accusations, which I have seen repeated verbatim on the Illinois Review and the Washington Examiner so far, and which appear to be from a press release sent out for posting across all conservative blogs in an effort to game the Google, are nearly unintelligible. But I'll try. (h/t BillieGirlToo)

Oh noes! Shirley Sherrod's group, New Communities, was involved in the Pigford lawsuit against the USDA

Oh, seriously. They were, that's true. And who better to hire to actually make reparations than the person who actually understood the damages?

Quote:
Writer Teri O'Brien manages to conflate the New Black Panthers, William Ayers, AND the Pigford case, citing the strength of character and discernment in Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.

Somewhat breathlessly, Ms. O'Brien heaves forth the knowledge that Sherrod's husband...

...was a former honcho in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee back in the 1960’s. You can read more about it in Bill Ayers book “Fugitive Days.” Yes, that Bill Ayers. He was involved in SNCC as well.

Now see? That's how you take an apple and an orange and make it into a prune. You find out about a group, link up 'scary guy' Bill Ayers without any corresponding direct link between the two or between the SNCC and the Weather Underground and all of a sudden it's a story! Who needs journalists when we've got Breitbart and his merry minions to keep us stupid?

Media Matters has a thorough debunking of this story and all of the companion versions...

MORE AT LINK

I want to know exactly who they think they are winning over with this garbage? The deceptiCons have reached their saturation point. There are no more in their target demographic. The only thing they can actually hope for is to put on such an ugly campaign that it drives down turnout. But, imo, each time they obstruct they piss off more folk. And these people are not going to forget. They're showing up to send them home.

Hard to say who they are reaching. I started to see the "Bill Ayers" crap early this week in blog comments and FB. Today, I had to not-so-gently correct some libbershit pushing the Shirley/grifter line of bull.

What's interesting to me is, they apparently don't know a lot about SNCC, which was rather INFAMOUS for kicking out the whites who wouldn't leave their entitlement issues at the door, ca. 66-67. Their ignorance knows no bounds, but one would think they'd have trotted that out already. Maybe they're waiting on it for next week's episode.

Stupid fucks.

Breitbart is as smugly elite as Tony hayward........................

As difficult as it probably was for her, it’s been difficult for me as well, especially to hear her hurl an accusation of racism at me, when my motivation is absolutely pure and is driven by a desire for this country to move beyond its horrid racist past.

Ha!

As a young teenager, Stokely became one of my heroes. Even took that as a nickname for a while. These people have no clue about anything that concerns anyone else. They hate you. They hate me. They hate my grandchildren. And while I have no hatred in my heart for anyone, there are dire consequences for anyone that harms those that I love. They really need to stop and think for a minute. While they are returning to a better time, while they are taking their country back, just what exactly do they think folk like me are doing?

The more i read, learn, listen, the more I understand just how little the average white american knows about not only their own history, but especially how it plays in the African American community and how these two groups of people grew up in entirely different worlds...

One of entitlement and privilege, and one of the exact opposite of that, what ever you call it...

I know I sound like an idiot, but that is OK...yesterday when I checked into my hotel, I was waited on by the manager/african american woman, attractive, in her 30's, and i was dying to tell her either my Michelle Obama at Warner Bros story or my Maya Angelou story, but i didnt tell either....I dont know why I am driven to do it, I think it is my way of letting them know I am on their side*, or I am not one of the assholes, not sure how to put it, plus I am really proud of those stories...like i said, i am an idiot

*it is becoming us vs them, isnt it...

Controversial RNC Chairman Michael Steele backed out of an appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists convention on Friday, citing food poisoning.

Later than evening, the RNC alerted donors via email that an August fundraiser featuring Steele alongside conservative media personality Andrew Breitbart would be postponed.

The event, entitled "RNC Election Countdown," was to take place in Los Angeles between August 12th and 14th.

Observers question whether Steele's schedule modifications indicate a desire to avoid the criticism recently leveled at Breitbart, who came under fire for publishing a misleading video clip of former USDA official Shirley Sherrod that led to her firing.

Sherrod announced her intention to sue Breitbart in remarks to the NABJ convention on Thursday.

Eh, eff em.

They're nuts if they think they're going to get white women and white queers to go back to pre-Roe, pre-affirmative action, pre-no fault divorce, and pre-stonewall. Their own people will stop them before we will ever have to lift a finger.

I don't know about it being connected to the Sherrod case. My initial reaction is that Steele may simply be ducking questions about his own accounting practices.

BTW, you definitely called that one. Cons have to try and redeem themselves somehow.

Talk is cheap. Defamation litigation ain't. And it isn't speedy, either. And it's NOT going to end the way anyone I like wants it to.

That's not cynicism folks, it's reality. The solution is NOT in lawsuits - at least not under current laws, and those under which Breitbart did what he did.
