Well, I've actually been to Scottsdale and Truthy-goof's problem is obvious…

He's provincial.

Provincial? Snotsdale? Surely you jest! Doesn't every city have it's own world class equestrian facility? Why, it would be barbaric not to!

Nope, Don't hang with the Steeple jump chasing or Polo crowd.. Is that even a "sport?"

Hey Scottsdale is a western type town[ old scottsdale] so they ride /play with Horses...I like to Bet on them Myself..... I never hung around with the Tom Chauncy's.[he died] .They don't care for blacks no matter how much money they have.. yep there are racists out there... fuck them and move on.

Thanks for seeker's post the thread actually found some purpose haha. I saw the thumbs up for what I call "data-based governance" and I give that the thumbs up too.

It reminds me of when I saw Santorum's video about gay marriage. He talks about kids have the right to grow up in a "stable family unit" and sites his personal experience that should be a man and a woman.

I just really wish there was a psych research person in the audience who could have called him out on that. "Excuse me Mr. Santorum, what personal experience do you have that overrides the peer-reviewed psychology research that PhD's have done in unviersities across the country?"

governance based on "my experiences" <<< governance based on "real data"

okay that's my piece! Nice picture on tabby 3!

Well, I saw the purpose in starting the thread, I just don't get why the person who started the thread didn't make clear what their purpose was.

Well, Vinny, I do believe in "data based governance" .... so to speak ... except with one proviso ... there are many technocrats out there who think we can only govern from quantitative data. Over here in the social sciences, as opposed to the physical, we work with qualitative data also. (OK. Sorry. I know that excludes the economists.) As long as that data is part of the conversation too, I'm totally onboard.

It can be hard to exactly quantify pain (and especially when it's not physical), but we know it's real.

I would prefer to just say "empirically & reality-based governance" ...

Qualitative data is data just as much as a numerical piece of data is
