I caught the first hour of Randi's show (the station goes to sports after the 1st hr.). I was driving home from work and getting angry just listening to the BS coming from some bimbo on FOX Liz Trotter complaining that women expect protection in the armed forces from being raped "too much."

Then we have Catholic Bishops comparing providers of birth control with Satan and that such access should be opposed "violently."

Funny how these guys are quick to cover up sexual assault on minors but come out against a legal, private health issue as being a creation of Lucifer.

And the icing on the cake is Rick Santorum saying he'd council his daughter about doing the right thing after a (hypothetical) rape and treat the pregnancy as "a gift."

How did this asshate win so many primaries? And where do these creeps in the Catholic church get the gall to tell us what's right and wrong, especially regarding something perfectly legal and responsible? What to hell is going on with this tired old obsession with contraction? Did someone open a time capsule and let 1950 leak out?

Bishop's linking Obama to Hitler enrages Notre Dame professors

(Reuters) - More than a hundred University of Notre Dame professors have demanded that Illinois Bishop Daniel Jenky renounce comments he made criticizing President Barack Obama's stance on religious liberty that compared him to dictators Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin.

"Jenky's comments demonstrate ignorance of history, insensitivity to victims of genocide and absence of judgment," said the letter addressed this week to the leadership of the renowned Catholic university in Indiana and signed by 131 professors from various fields.

The letter urged the school to distance itself from Jenky's "incendiary statement," and called for Jenky, 65, a Notre Dame graduate who has led a Catholic diocese in Peoria, Illinois, since 2002, to "renounce loudly and publicly this destructive analogy" - or resign from the university's Board of Fellows and board of trustees.

Jenky, along with other U.S. Catholic bishops and social conservatives, condemned the Obama administration's requirement that church-affiliated institutions provide insurance that covers contraception.

But his April 14 homily singled out Obama and the Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate, saying "The Church will survive ... the calculated disdain of the President of the United States ... and of the current (Democratic) majority of the federal Senate." (continued)

"In clear violation of our First Amendment rights, Barack Obama - with his radical, pro-abortion and extreme secularist agenda, now seems intent on following a similar path," he said.

Jenky's comments were quoted in newspapers, and his homily was reproduced on the website of the Catholic Post, the Peoria diocese's newspaper.

I swear to Buddha---it's crap like this that gives me "Wittenberg Moments". I get an almost uncontrollable urge to nail something to the door of a church.

Completely lost in this reportáge is the fact that the Catholic leadership is in a minority position among the mainstream churches when it comes to this, but they've got the pretty outfits, so they get more camera time.

My denomination, the Presbyterian Church (USA), supports the use of hormonal and other kinds of contraception, and has an officially PRO-CHOICE position. There's even an organization under the umbrella of the Presbyterian Health Education and Welfare Association called Presbyterians Affirming Reproductive Options (frequent target of attack from my conservative brethren and sisteren, of course).

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is officially pro-choice and supports contraception.

The United Methodist Church (the second largest Protestant denomination in the country) is (somewhat) pro-choice and has officially supported the use of contraception since at least 1976.

The worldwide Anglican Communion has supported the availability of contraception since 1958.


But no, the only Christians the meedja notices are the Catholics and the Southern Baptist Convention. smh
