Heroes?

Sorry, Randi, but you lost me on your definition of "hero." Wearing a uniform doesn't make one a hero; being in a war zone doesn't make one a hero, either. I wore a uniform when we had a real, live, Red enemy and I sure as H*** don't consider myself a hero. Just a soldier, doing his job. Your definition only adds to the military worship we find all to commonly in this country. Many of today's military joined for a job; nothing heroic about that. The biggest share of troops in today's "war zones" are support staff or far, far away from any "action." Heroic? Hardly. I am sympathetic for anyone who has lost a child in any war, for whatever reason. But to call anyone who wears a uniform a "hero" is to denigrate those who actually did something "heroic" to earn that honor.
