never forget roommate johnny pride bringing home their first recording, them and ramones if i recall correctly

The Pistols actually had only the one album proper. John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) wanted nothing to do with The Great Rock 'N Roll Swindle movie, so any vocals of his on the soundtrack were taken from demo tapes with new instrument tracks added. The remaining Pistols each had tracks where they sang lead vocals, but not all worked on the tracks together, so they could basically be called solo projects. The remainder of the soundtrack was covers and other songs by other artists.

There were a number of bootlegs. Many "lost" songs widely attributed to the Pistols actually turned out to be other artists.

I was a huge Ramones fan. So glad they got to make so many albums :)

I just went to a screening of "Rock & Roll High School" last week - a 90 minute love letter to the Ramones. But in 1979, through to today, I've always found Joey Ramone to be about the most repulsive human being to lay one's eyes upon on the face of the planet. (That guy with fungus feet and hands is now tied) And to see PJ Soles convincingly mooning over Joey... at times it's just more than I can take.

Aw, I always thought Joey was cute... not sexy, but cute ;)
And cool off the radar

Rock & Roll High School was a favorite back in the day because it had a band I liked and one of the few movies with a soundtrack of "my music". I always felt it was at last part inspiration for Footloose. Riff Randell and Ren McCormack had similar goals.

Joey Ramone was an aquaintance/friend of mine (for real). Joey was always sickly and his physical pain often showed on his face. I don't know what his chronic disease was but it stalked him the entire time I knew him. He was more handsome when he wasn't in character.

I still have the hots for PJ Soles as Riff Randell and who was that teenage bombshell who played Kate Rambo?

Listen, X, you stay the HELL away from PJ. She's MY girl, see? WOT, you wanna start a rumble?

Kate was Dey Young, and she's still around! Mostly a day player, but she's fighting the good fight. Every girl I went to high school with wore those same ridiculous glasses, things that were each the size of dinner plates! But I do remember being astounded with her make-over near the end of that flick, one of those librarian-to-vixen conversions.

KATE BEFORE

But the REAL hottie of that movie was a glorified extra, but it couldn't have been made clearer that she's the one Arkush was banging. She's known as the "red leotard girl" - the first wardrobe she's seen in at the movie's opener - though as one of PJ's supposed back-ups she had a character name that was virtually never spoken, Cheryl. Her name was/is Marla Rosenfeld, and for decades a mini cult has revolved around her.

Image

She really was exceptionally pretty, and was always dressed very provocatively, albeit with a decided "disco" tilt. And no matter how little she had to do with the scene at hand, Arkush ALWAYS had her on camera very close to the action. He adored her... until the shoot was over. Far and away the hottest girl in the movie, leaving PJ in the dust. And I adored PJ. (When Bill Murray took that spatula to her in "Stripes," I was bereft with envy and jealousy.)

The RUMOR is that Leotard Girl is now some highly-renowned, exceptionally talented cancer researcher and radiologist on the east coast. But I dunno if that's based on fact, or the dearth of those who can be found on the web with the same name.

R&RHS was ALSO my introduction to the delightful and altogether perfect Mary Woronov as "Principal Togar."

Image

God how that woman has made me howl over the years

But let's not give short shrift to the men of R&RHS, including Vince Van Patten, who basically played himself:

And "THE UGLIEST MAN IN SHOW BUSINESS," Ron's bro, Clint Howard

Did Joey ever get upset about anything? Even in the most casual pics /vids I ever saw of him he was always so cool and laid back. I can't imagine him ever having a temper. :)

Joey always struck me as "not long for this world" (much like my little sis who we lost one year ago yesterday, today would have been her birthday). Although I was crushed at the news of his death at 49, it wasn't as shocking as losing Joe Stummer also at 49. I though that guy would be an old gray headed activist.

OMG, Bushwa. A guilty pleasure of mine has always been Mary Woronov--ever since she co-starred in "Eating Raoul."

I thought it was one of the funniest ideas the folks at "30 Rock" had ever come up with - showing that Liz Lemon's love life was so disastrous and prone to bad judgement that, in 2010 or 2011, her then-new boy friend boasted of being "The Beeper King!" Had his own business supplying pagers! (in the 21st century.)

I've had one of all three of those model pagers, the one with the biggest display was the worst. And I had one before that which was the size and weight of a good sized masonry brick. :x

I want to forget pagers, and cell phones forever. They're the symbol, and tool, of modern wage slavery.

They always said leave that damned pager on, and have it around at home on weekend and days off.

One time I even had a boss say I needed, (he needed), to have one with me on my sail boat.

 I fixed that problem about the boat with a splash and long weekend soak in a bucket of salty sea water. He said, "we had an emergency this weekend and I tried to page you, did you have the pager with you, and did you have it on?"

I said, "yes I had it, and had it on, it must have not worked." Then I said, "lets test it," and I proved to him right then and there in his office that it really didn't work.

After he bought me a new one, he never asked me to have one on my boat again. Not long after that I bought a new boss. :x
