KOMO 4 News reporter Shomari Stone found himself in the news and not reporting it this past week when he saved a white supremacist’s life from a brutal beating. Would you have done the same? Do you think if the shoe was on the other foot someone would have saved you? Do you think the white supremacist would have saved the black reporter?

Stupid questions. The guy did not find out about the WN until after he saved him. Either way, yes, when someone is getting their ass beat and there is something I can do to stop it then yes, there is a moral obligation to at least try. We Black People™ call this "home training".

Tempest/teapot. A white saving a white supremacist would never make the news.

As the reporter said to the WS, (i'm paraphrasing........it's character, not color that counts.........

Ugh, content of character bullshit.

Nah, it's only "news" because of the perceived novelty. Some white saving a white bigot = not news. We would never hear anything about it.

That's part of it. IMO, the real deciding factor in this making such a big splash is because there is video. You should see some News Line Producer salivate about having video.

City worker gets pink slip and jumps to his death in Califonia

Quote:
Costa Mesa, California (AP)-- Family, friends and police are struggling to understand why a Southern California city employee who was poised to advance in his career and had recently trained to climb Mt. Everest jumped to his death after receiving a layoff notice.

Investigators were talking to people who may have had contact with Huy Pham before his apparent suicide, Lt. Bryan Glass said Friday.

Pham, 27, plunged from the roof of the five-story Civic Center on Thursday about an hour afteò he was called in to work to receive the pink slip. His brother and others have said that he did not appear to be suicidal in recent weeks..............

............Pham was one of 213 city employees - nearly half the city's work force of 472 - who were to be notified of layoffs on Thursday. His death heightened the strain over the City Council's decision earlier this month to outsource 18 city services to other government or private agencies...........

Restaurant owners accused of trying to kill competitor

Quote:
Two Shelby Township restaurant owners are accused of trying to kill a competitor who they felt moved in on their turf, hitting the restaurant owner over the head 11 times with an aluminum baseball bat.

The brothers, Giuseppe and Girolamo D’Anna, also are accused of threatening Pietro Ventimiglia since 2009 when he opened his competing restaurant, Nonna’s Restaurant, across the street, Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith said in a release today.

“Don’t you know who we are?” the D’Annas reportedly said, according to the release.

Smith said the threats continued when Ventimiglia more than doubled his eatery’s seating capacity to 90 despite threats from the D’Annas not to expand further. Nonna’s Restaurant is near 23 Mile and Schoenherr.

During the closing-time beating Thursday, the D’Annas stormed into Nonna’s Restaurant. Giuseppe D’Anna allegedly told Ventimiglia that he was going to kill him “so the problem would be over,” according to the release.

It said after the assault, Giuseppe D’Anna shouted that if Ventimiglia went to the police, he would kill Ventimiglia’s children, his family and his parents in Italy.

“It sounds like a bad episode of the Sopranos,” Smith said in a telephone interview, adding that the assault, threats and intimidation of a business owner is unconscionable......

This horrific case is unfolding now allthough the Casey Anothony case is getting all the TV attention but I post it because it speaks to what some people will believe when it comes from an 'authoritative figure'. I'm not blaming the parents because lot's of these crimes happened 'in the office' but why would you let your kid go anywhere with a Doctor or anyone without you accompanying them?????????????

I mean really, a 3 day series of shots for ear infectiontions and you just let the kid go................

The troopers told of how Bradley "groomed" parents to let their daughters go with him to a basement or outbuilding to get Popsicles or other treats, such as a "princess doll," before forcing sex acts that he recorded on video.

He raped some girls during weekends when he told their parents they needed a three-day series of shots for ear infections, and needed to get candy for their depleted sugar levels from the injections, a trooper testified.

For 11 years, a Delaware pediatrician videotaped rape and sexual abuse of his patients. He labeled video recordings of his attacks with names such as "Summer Best" or "January Great"... The disclosure that some girls appeared to lose consciousness, both choking and suffocating, when he forced oral sex on them led two women to storm out of the hushed courtroom."

Bradley assaulted more than 102 girls and at least one boy, Bradley's indictment said, but prosecutors reduced the number of victims to 86 for the trial.

"He does have a preference for toddlers" Garland said.

Doom implies the future. I suggest that humanity was screwed up millennia ago. :)

Separating Dipshits From Dollars

"She was under, for want of a better word, the curse of Rose Marks." The fortune teller reportedly told the author that her son was "somewhere between heaven and hell." Several sources with knowledge of the case said the victim is Jude Deveraux, author of 37 New York Times bestsellers that include romances and tales of the paranormal... Somehow she gave $20 million to the family."

LSD: The Geek's Wonder Drug?

During the LSD symposium, mythologist Carl P. Ruck and chemist Peter Webster presented their research suggesting that an ergot preparation was the active ingredient for the Kykeon beverage used during the ritual.

"When Hofmann synthesized the chemical in LSD, he stumbled upon a 4,000-year-old secret," said Ruck, author of Road to Eleusis.

When Kevin Herbert has a particularly intractable programming problem, or finds himself pondering a big career decision, he deploys a powerful mind expanding tool -- LSD-25.

"It must be changing something about the internal communication in my brain. Whatever my inner process is that lets me solve problems, it works differently, or maybe different parts of my brain are used, " said Herbert, 42, an early employee of Cisco Systems who says he solved his toughest technical problems while tripping to drum solos by the Grateful Dead -- who were among the many artists inspired by LSD.

"When I'm on LSD and hearing something that's pure rhythm, it takes me to another world and into anther brain state where I've stopped thinking and started knowing," said Herbert who intervened to ban drug testing of technologists at Cisco Systems.

Herbert, who lives in Santa Cruz, California, joined 2,000 researchers, scientists, artists and historians gathered here over the weekend to celebrate the 100th birthday of Albert Hofmann, the Swiss chemist who discovered LSD here in 1938. The centenarian received a congratulatory birthday letter from the Swiss president, roses and a spontaneous kiss from a young woman in the crowd.

Student critically injured after tackle by security guard

Quote:
Wellston, MO (KSDK) - A Normandy High School security officer is alleged to have injured a student so severely that the teen is hospitalized in critical condition.

The incident happened October 21, and the family of 18-year-old Damontae Woods says school officials told them there was an altercation between the teen and the safety officer.

Woods was rushed to a local hospital, and relatives say he needed open-heart surgery.

His mom invited NewsChannel 5 to see her injured son.

The family and their attorney says Woods was late for school, and was in the hallway with friends when a security guard saw him.

He ran, and the guard chased him outside.

Attorney Bob Herman says the guard threw Woods to the ground and kneed him in the back.

"His heart was ruptured in two pieces and was torn away from the cardiac lining, and this is going to a have a life-long affect on Demontae," said Herman...............

In a way, I sort of agree, yet disagree. IMO, 25% of the human population experiences incomplete brain formation in the critical stage of adolescence. The human brain takes more than 20 years to fully develop. During childhood all the major axons complete their wiring. During adolescence, the brain's neurons make most of the critical dendritic wiring that leads to more complex balance/judgement/timeline processing in preparation for adulthood. It is my belief that an inherited genetic condition (s'why it's 25%), results in incomplete development, and why the adolescent characteristic of risk-reward and outcome/compassion is so unbalanced in that 25%. It's genetic.

Archdiocese of Detroit sells downtown warming center, soup kitchen

Quote:
The Archdiocese of Detroit has sold a downtown Detroit building that housed a warming center, soup kitchen and retail shop operated by St. Aloysius Catholic Church to AKNO Enterprises.

No sale price or development plans for the 1209 Washington Boulevard building were disclosed. But the move has shut St. Al's Community Center, also called Canticle Café, and caused a Franciscan friar, a priest and volunteers from St. Aloysius — located across the street from the now-sold structure — now to use bicycles to feed and clothe the downtown needy.

"St. Francis of Assisi walked among the people where they lived in order to preach the Gospel and to be of service to the poor," said Brother Al Mascia, who spearheaded the idea of using street vendor bikes equipped with food and clothing. "We are seeking to do that same thing by going out to the people in our downtown Detroit neighborhood."

Mascia used to operate out of St. Al's Community Center, but it was shut shortly after the building was sold about a month ago to the owners of the empty Book Building and Book Tower next door. That means AKNO Enterprises now controls the western side of the 1200 block of Washington Boulevard, which is near the glitzy Westin Book Cadillac hotel.........
