I watched Viet Nam in HD, brought me to tears, saw a great doc today about a paralyzed vet, more tears. I'm so damn proud of the men and women I served with, and all of those who came before and after me. Semper Fi!!!

Back atcha Tap. I have been watching Vietnam in HD too. I had a similar experience as the guy who made it home alive only to be shunned at the air port. I too was ridiculed while wearing my class a's in an air port. I didn't buy in to the shame though, I wore my uniform proudly, and the dude with the smart mouth will never know how close he came to getting the shit kicked out of him by a guy in a soldier suit.

I spent the last 3 days thinking about all of the veterans in my family, pretty damn impressive list, we have been in everything except the Coast Guard, but, I have a friend who was in that too, I think that when we care enough to cover all the bases, we in great shape, so this OOH-RAH goes out to all of them...

Every Nov 11 I think about Veterans Day and all those lost and wounded and of course some of those I never knew except for family photos from past wars.

I find Nov 11 a sombre, reflective day and a thankful one that I never had to go especially to a war that was not needed such as Iraq or Vietnam.

One thing I can't relate to is so many in the media saying 'Happy Veterans Day' like it's Christmas or someones birthday.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
