Yeah, life is hard for a stay at home mom with 5 kids ... with nannies, maids, and servants.

Oh, I know, I've heard she only used a maid once a week and had no nannies. I just don't believe her.

On the other hand, I believe "Juanita". "It really is true, Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life."

The whole Ann Romney-Hillary Rosen "thang" could not have been more perfectly timed. Mittens is exploiting the gaffe like a harp from hell, so cynically pimping his wife (and yes, I'll use that word) to try and reverse the gender gap in the polls that the WoW has created for the GOP.

Look, all she was trying to say was that Ann Romney doesn't know anything about the economy because she's never held a job outside of housewife. That's it. Rosen wasn't trying to denigrate housewives or stay-at-home moms. She was just pointing out it's a bit odd for Ann Romney to be going around talking about the impacts of the economy on women when Ann Romney has never been unemployed. If she had said "she has never worked in the formal labor economy a day in her life" everybody would have seen her point and there would have been no gaffe.

Yeah, her poor choice of words made her sound like she was saying housework and childrearing isn't work. I know she didn't mean that, because she was a stay-at-home mom herself for a while. But the backflips that the WH went through to disown her once again ... sheesh.

So forgotten in this mess, let me point out 2 things:

1. the "choice" to be a stay-at-home mom who doesn't need to work outside the home (because the family doesn't need 2 incomes) is a lot easier when your husband is a multi-millionaire. So before we slaver over Ann Romney's "heroism" for making that "choice" to stay home with her 5 kids, let's remember her "choice" was a lot easier than the one for others.

2. while the Republicans proclaim a "war on moms," let's remember which political party supports mother-friendly legislation like parental and family leave, child care provision, and Head Start for young children. Oh yeah ...

And no matter what rethugs say, the overwhelming majority of women weren't paying attention to that gaffe crap. And if they are they are not stupid. They know what she meant. I agree the WH should just stfu sometimes. They elevated this to the bs level that it got to.

And again, true to form, whatever mileage they could have gotten out of it, they turned into feet.

the romney campaign could parade hundreds of witnesses, sworn, testifying thsi statement is true and i not only wouldnt believe it, i wouldnt need more than one third of a second to dismiss said nonsense...

again, ann romney couldnt find her laundry room in any of her mansions let alone know how to operate anything in it

 So... golf is now a macho men's event? I thought that was football and hockey. I just cannot, no how hard I try, envision a group of guys sitting around in a darkened room, staring at the glass teet while quaffing mugs of foamy malted testosterone, and watching GOLF!

Canada beats U.S. in OT to win women's hockey worlds

Caroline Ouellette scored her second goal of the game 1:50 into overtime as Canada won the women's world hockey championship with a 5-4 victory over the U.S. on Saturday.

Canada may have won Olympic gold in 2010, but it was the country's first world championship since 2007 in Winnipeg.

The U.S. beat them in three straight finals after that, including an overtime victory last year in Switzerland.

Canadian captain Hayley Wickenheiser scored short-handed and Canada also got goals from Jayna Hefford and Meghan Agosta.

Agosta scored late in regulation to send the final into overtime and also had a pair of assists. Goaltender Shannon Szabados made 40 saves in the victory.

The Americans fought back from a 3-1 deficit in the second period with three unanswered power-play goals.

Defenceman Gigi Marvin scored twice, with Kendall Coyne and Brianna Decker adding goals for the hosts. Goaltender Molly Schaus stopped 34 of 39 shots for the victory.

The U.S. and Canada have met in the final of all 14 world championship starting with the first one in Ottawa in 1990.

What was that about hockey being a macho man's sport?

Hey, I'm not afraid to say it: Rosen, the DNC consultant who mocked Romney's wife for having "never worked a day in her life," was an idiot. It was a moronic thing to say.

She's lucky the Republicans took it and completely blew it as they tried to milk it - in the process inadvertently supporting lesbians who adopt as good mothers. But what Rosen said - and her tone while saying it - were inexcusable and stupid to the point of sounding Republican.

Did Ann Romney work, ever? I doubt she did anything besides manage the maids and the nannies...she was the society wife. BFD what Rosen said. I think people knew what she was trying to say...sure it was stupid to give the repigs ANYTHING to chew on, but seriously, is that what we have to play now? Make sure that nothing said can be misconstrued in any way?

Yes. Compare what Rosen said to about any average bit of filth coming out of the mouths of Neil Boortz, Michael Savage, Michael Reagan or Rush Limbaugh, and she sounds like Gandhi.

And people go hungry, war rages on in Afghanistan, defense contractors are making more money than they can spend in a lifetime, the newest financial instruments that will steal your future are being designed, and we are arguing about whether or not a spoiled, privileged, ignorant white right wing woman has ever worked

a. it doesnt matter
b. of course she hasnt, but how does it matter?

Is there a woman out there that was gonna vote Left but now is voting right because of this? If so i wanna meet her and she really needs to explain this to me and the rest of humanity, please...

Romney Flashback: Poor Mothers Should Be Required To Work Outside The Home Or Lose Welfare

Quote:
In case it wasn’t already clear that last week’s controversy over stay at home moms was entirely manufactured, this should put the question to bed.

Romney and allies cried that Democrats had declared “war on moms” after a Democratic strategist said Romney’s wife hadn’t worked a day in her life. Romney’s camp said this meant Democrats don’t value stay at home moms and motherhood, while they believe that women who stay home are doing real work.

But for every Romney action, there is an equal and opposite Romney reaction, and this morning, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes dug up a video of Romney from just January in which the Republican presidential candidate said he wanted to require women who receive welfare to work outside the home, even if their children are very young. He told a New Hampshire audience:

“I wanted to increase the work requirement,” said Romney. “I said, for instance, that even if you have a child 2 years of age, you need to go to work. And people said, ‘Well that’s heartless.’ And I said, ‘No, no, I’m willing to spend more giving day care to allow those parents to go back to work. It’ll cost the state more providing that daycare, but I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.”

VIDEO AND MORE AT LINK

The dignity of work? The dignity to have to work multiple jobs to give their children the things they need and want? Why didn't he make his wife have the dignity of work?

While I'm at it, I woke up to press the meat and that crone Michelle Bachmann. You can tell David's back. This show is so slanted it is pathetic. I put this comment here because he was beating the dead horse called Hillary Rosen. I never write letters to the networks, but this display has made me change my policy. He needs to go. Not just him but the entire staff needs to go. There are some really foul crap going on there.

how do we force every non rich american to see this article, to read it, to understand it? how?

If you ever needed a demonstration of the obvious classism of the Republicans, here it is.

For white married upper class women, the idea that they should work outside the home is a feminist conspiracy to destroy the family and make all women lesbians.

But, if you're a poor minority single mother who wants to stay home and raise your children, well no, you need "the dignity of work" (outside the home). 2 years of welfare benefits, and TANF is over baby, time to hit the streets and look for work and "dignity". A woman's place is, well, cleaning somebody else's home or raising their kids, and getting some payola. Then you can come home and take care of your own.

You're right on target with this analogy about the attack on poor women .
