GET OUT THE VOTE!!

Clackamas County, OR is looking at a Tea Party activist upsurge. The chair of the County Commission, Charlotte Lehan, has done a fine job for the county. But as we have seen these folks are very good at turning procedural tricks and we need an especially sharp person to take command and see that the rules aren't bent against us in the coming years.

For that reason I am supporting former State House Democratic Leader Dave Hunt in the election which closes this Tuesday May 15th. Dave is running for the County Commission Chair and this Monday May 14th we are coordinating a sign-waving event at the freeway entrances from 99 onto I-205. This event is being coordinated by Cyndi Lewis-Wolfram who is well-known to folks in the Clackamas County area, and I have been asked to assist in any way possible, most specifically in getting bodies out there between 7-9 am and 4:30-6 pm. I know we have some active members and even lurkers from Portland and surrounding areas and am reaching out in any way I know how to get whomever I can to help. If you are available PM me, post in this topic, or simply show up and let's see what we can make happen.

Minor benefit - get a chance to give a board moderator a piece of your mind in person. I'll be the 6' somewhat Native American looking guy in the black We The People ballcap and probably with a blue Cannondale bicycle with an Obama 2012 sticker on it (that matches better than I could have hoped for).

Please help!

Oh, and if anyone is interested in double-checking this event I can provide Cyndi's phone number for anyone who wishes to contact the lead on this event. This is an offer she extended. As a former candidate for office in the area she can also be found independently by anyone who wishes to verify.

GET OUT THE VOTE!

Oh, come on. I'm trying to make a buck here. I want to run a pool on how long before Ludlow is recalled or quits which is his usual style. He's broke. His real estate business has very few listings. He'll hate the stipend he gets as a commissioner. So, the first thing he'll propose is a big increase in the compensation package. That will crank up the TP base to start a recall. In the meantime, he'll cut cut cut by fiat until he gores someone's ox, get into a public argument with them or shout them down at a hearing, claim it's all executive session, and they will start a recall effort. He'll also approve projects of his pals and deny projects of his opponents which will cause some to wonder about his bias, and they will back one of the other recall efforts depending upon whom they are most aligned with.

My money is on eight months until the first recall effort. Signature gathering will begin just after the New Year.

Hey, thanks for the picture. The billboards are all the talk in local (D) circles but it's so much easier to show folks a .jpg than it is to direct them all out there and hope they return so you can continue the discussion.

What's funny is if they did sweep the commission they'd probably turn right around and okay some of the projects they cry against and start calling it job creation. Who knows. Everytime Herb Beals brings up ZAMO from the '50s it's like he's reading the TP playbook. That's why I keep returning to learn at his foot every week.

That's maybe the hardest call for me. She's got Roberts' endorsement, but Holton in every way other than the medical marijuana stance is better qualified. It also bother me that what disinformation has hit the media has been in Rosenbloom's favor like the distortion about Holton being an out-of-stater. The man has lived and worked in Oregon for better than a decade.

When one side starts lying I lean to the other reflexively.

Heh. Well, Oregon has always been a bit isolationist, at least a large fraction of the electorate. We used to have a sign at the border, "Come to Visit But Please Don't Stay." So, ten years is like he fell off a turnip truck in Gresham yesterday.

The other claim is that most of his campaign money comes from out of state. No idea if that's true.

Honestly, though, no matter what his experience, if he's an ass, I'll take someone with less experience.

There is that. I have no idea if he is an ass. What I do know is Barbara Roberts doesn't endorse just anybody. But then I've met Jon Kroger and heard him speak at length about policy and the state is losing a tremendous asset to his illness, and he likes Holton.

I met her, spoke with her and heard her speak at our Unite Women rally in Salem...I like having a strong feminist in as attorney general...

I trust your judgement. She has my vote, unless something really bizarre comes up, like baby eating or something. :)

No matter how modestly proposed.

Oh, and on the original intent for this topic (not nitpicking, the convo is fabulous), Dave Hunt will have a team on the West Linn side of the 205 bridge. I'll be on the Oregon City side at the Northbound 205 entrance unless we don't have many bodies. I tried but church was nearly empty today and I only have one maybe, but others are trying to round up people. There is also a team going in on 224 in the Estacada area. We are execting some supporters for candidates other than Dave Hunt and wouldn't mind standing side-by-side with other supporters in the interest of putting GOTV above simple candidate boosting. Would have to draw the line at TPers, though, as we'd hate to lend to the appearance that they have greater support than they really do.

Post here, show up, or hit me up on Twitter @Fellixe.

Woo-hoo! Good event for a last-minute thing! Dave Hunt and supporters had the West Linn side and after a small delay we eventually totalled 4 on the Oregon City side. While there I called KPOJ and Paul put me on with Carl at the very end of hour 2 (podcasting available!). I mentioned there that we would return at 4:30-6 and where we were, but forgot to mention the 3rd location at 224 and 205 by the Fred Meyer. Carl said they're big fans of Dave at the show! Yay!

Well, right now the Clackamas County results show John Ludlow narrowly beating the incumbent Charlotte Lehan by less than a point. I'll have to wait until morning for the final tally. Damnit! I may actually havta start that pool on his stupid TEA party ass after all. Charlotte has served well for several terms. Our loss, but she might enjoy the break.

Martha Schrader is kickin Jim Knapp's can down the street and into the drain. Good for her, and good bye to one TEA Party wanker. Jamie Damon is holding her own against Tootie Smith, whoeverthehellsheis. She has got to be a sock puppet or something. If we can keep two good Dems on the commission, we are not totally hosed though I do feel bad for them. They will have to endure mighty mouth John Ludlow The Eloquent try to gavel them to death at every meeting. Martha will go toe to toe with him. Word to John - Martha raises horses, and she knows how to make a gelding. Better wear your kevlar dude.

Anyone who visits the results site above, notice the Republican Presidential nominee results. Romney pulled 73% with the remainder about evenly split between Ron Paul and Santorum. Even Newt drew some votes away. Don't these people pay attention?

In Yamhill County it was worse. Romney 70%, Santorum and Paul 12 and 11% respectively. I'll believe it. When we drove out there Sunday for Mother's Day, there were Ron Paul signs all over the place.

The state wide results mimic Clackamas County - Romney 73% with Paul pulling 12%. Obviously the Oregon R's are not totally enamored with Romney Mitt, the daring barber of Wall St.
