Weeellll, unless you listen to the BOO. Then you would get a little of everything. Granted, there isn't a strong Asian presence. But, every show is produced by whomever has that slot, and none of it is top 40, death metal, or even classic rock. The BOO has some hellashish musicologists. My fav is Brandon, and his show Drinking From Puddles Wed evening 8pm (pacific). Mostly Indy, but it's from all over the planet. Some of it is so experimental, i dOn'T gtE iT. But, most of it rocks. Two thumbs up for Brandon.

Years ago (sometime in the '70s) while listening to a jazz oriented KBOO broadcast, the DJ played a song by Willie Nelson--"Tumbleweed" in a jazz arrangement. I'm still looking for a copy of that song; I can only imagine it was a bootleg because it's not on any of his albums or random stuff you run across.

I still remember the DJ's introduction... "Next a Willie Nelson song--wait!--don't change the dial, this is REALLY different!" And it was. :)

This is more a personal pet peeve than anything, but go to another country any country and you can hear American songs being played occasionally, while American radio stations seem to have a blackout on any foreign music. Very noticeable and very fucking strange.

This is why I don't put any US music in the Tune of the Day thread. Give you folks down there a little bit of an education in music you've never heard.

Much appreciated, I'll give it a listen.

Stoon, surprised you didn't mention this, but there's a surprising amount of Canadian music on American radio.

It wasn't until I started dating a Canuck that I realized the pernicious influence of the dreaded socialist conspiracy that is CanCon!
